The Yutzy School
Core Values

Below are the Core Values that shape the mission and daily life of The Yutzy School. As a Christ-centered learning community, we ask all families to respect and uphold these values. A shared commitment to these principles is essential for enrollment and for creating a nurturing, respectful environment where students thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.

Nature of The Yutzy School

The Yutzy School (TYS) is a Christ-centered learning community committed to academic excellence, character formation, and a love of discovery. Rooted in biblical values, TYS offers a rigorous, hands-on education that nurtures students intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

We uphold faith, integrity, and scholarship, cultivating an environment where students develop strong moral character, critical thinking skills, and a passion for lifelong learning. Our educational approach blends classical principles, habit training, and innovative learning experiences.

As an independent Christian school, TYS welcomes families of all faith backgrounds who are willing to respect and uphold our values. We believe a respectful and principled community enhances learning and strengthens our shared mission.

Independence & Integrity

The Yutzy School is an independent institution that does not accept government funds, grants, vouchers, or any assistance that might compromise our mission, values, or educational philosophy. This financial and ideological independence allows TYS to preserve our commitment to Christian education, moral integrity, and academic excellence—free from external mandates that could dilute our vision.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

The Gospel is the good news that "Christ died for our sins...was buried, and...rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:1–4). We believe that salvation is a gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus taught that the greatest commandments are to "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind" and to "love thy neighbour as thyself" (Matthew 22:37–39). These truths shape the way we strive to learn, live, and treat one another at The Yutzy School.

Bible Study and Prayer

To nurture the spiritual development of every student, daily participation in Bible study is a core part of the experience at TYS. These classes offer a structured exploration of Scripture, guiding students to grow in personal faith, strengthen moral reasoning, and deepen their understanding of the teachings of Christ.

Each school day begins and ends with prayer, and a prayer of gratitude is offered at lunchtime. Students may be invited to lead in prayer and are welcome to either accept or decline the opportunity. Regardless of participation, all students are expected to remain respectful during prayer time.

Sanctity of Life

We believe every human life is sacred, created in the image of God, and inherently valuable—from conception to natural death. As followers of Christ, we are called to honor, protect, and defend the dignity of all people. (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 139:13-16).

Gender, Human Sexuality, and Marriage

We believe that every person is a beloved child of God and that gender is a divine gift, essential to our identity and purpose. God created humanity as male and female, each uniquely reflecting His image (Genesis 1:27; Matthew 19:4).

We affirm that the gift of procreation is reserved for the covenant of marriage, defined in Scripture as the union of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:31-32). Sexual intimacy belongs within this sacred bond and reflects God's design for love, commitment, and family (Hebrews 13:4; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

Commitment to American Principles of Freedom

The Yutzy School is committed to fostering a deep appreciation for the United States of America and the founding principles that have shaped the nation. As part of our academic and character education, students will study and respect the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other foundational documents that establish the framework for the freedoms we enjoy. These texts are essential to understanding liberty, individual rights, and civic responsibility, and as such TYS faculty encourage students to develop a thorough knowledge of their historical significance and modern implications. By engaging with these documents, students will gain a strong foundation in American history, government, and the responsibilities of citizenship, preparing them to become thoughtful, informed, and principled citizens.

Habit Training

At TYS, we believe that habit training—an essential principle in Charlotte Mason’s philosophy—is foundational to raising life-long learners and thoughtful individuals. This intentional, ongoing practice cultivates twelve core habits: attention, orderliness, obedience, narration, truthfulness, responsibility, kindness and courtesy, diligence, observation, self-correction, reflectiveness, and self-control. By nurturing these habits daily, we help students build character and develop the internal discipline necessary for both academic and personal growth.

Christlike Character in Leadership & Learning

All administrators, faculty, and staff shall profess faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Savior and strive to live a life consistent with His teachings. Because Christ-centered education is character-conscious, it is essential that school leaders, teachers, employees, and volunteers model the virtues they seek to instill in students.

Traits such as honesty, patience, humility, generosity, maturity, kindness, contentment, forgiveness, self-control, and ethical conduct are modeled and cultivated at every level of the school (1 Corinthians 13; Galatians 5:19-25; Ephesians 4).

Attire, Speech, and Behavior

At TYS, we believe that our words, actions, and appearance should reflect our commitment to Christ. Students, staff, and volunteers are expected to uphold standards of modesty, integrity, and respect—both in and out of the classroom.

These standards apply to all school activities, including performances and athletic events, ensuring that our conduct consistently honors God and reflects the values of The Yutzy School.
